30 changes in 900 seconds
Lorelle asked her readers to make a list of 30 things we could do to change the world. The catch? Each can only take 30 seconds for a single person to do. Here’s my list.
1. Pick up trash that is languishing on the sidewalk.
2. Put an extra 75 cents in the soda machine when I’m done with it.
3. Leave change in a pay phone.
4. Drop my loose change on the floor in the mall so a child can happily exclaim, “Look, Mom! What I found!”
5. Smile at a stranger.
6. Say “thank you” to a custodian.
7. Leave an uplifting note in a library book and return it.
8. Write a note on a napkin in a restaurant and replace it in the napkin pile.
9. Donate money to charity.
10. Turn the lights off when I’m not using them.
11. Don’t turn the air conditioner on.
12. Chat with someone I normally wouldn’t just to get to know them.
13. Buy a hamburger and give it to a homeless person.
14. Give a street performer more than I usually would.
15. Tell someone that I love him. Or her.
16. Invite an acquaintance to eat lunch with me.
17. Leave extra tip.
18. Say two positive things for every negative I make.
19. Buy the homeless a turkey dinner at the check-out line of the supermarket.
20. Leave a comment on a blog that does not get many comments.
21. Look up something new to learn about.
22. Be there to listen to someone’s problems.
23. Turn off the heater at night (if we aren’t going to freeze, of course).
24. Help someone up when they fall.
25. Don’t correct someone’s grammar condescendingly; ignore it if it was just a slip of the tongue.
26. Tell someone they’re special.
27. Tell your roommate how wonderful she’s been.
28. Leave a message in someone’s guestbook.
29. Don’t bash what someone says, even if it flies in the face of my beliefs.
30. Love.

Great list, but 10 are missing.
I love number 20, though.
Sponsor a child in an under-privileged country. It costs so little, it changes so much.
O.K - it takes less than 30 seconds to make the decision
I added 10 more. I pressed publish instead of save and I had to run to class.
Aw! This is a really good list! I like the whole underlying idea of it.
Thanks Sushi. All nods go to Lorelle.
