Five ReBoot Episodes for the Non-Booter
ReBoot has one of the most fanatical fan bases (ah, yes, that definitely was redundant) that I’ve ever encountered. Yes, it’s small. But fanatical. This is not my first post about ReBoot. But it is my first attempt to try to spread the fandom. Absorb!
I guess you should know this: ReBoot takes place in the computer world. Most of it happens in Mainframe. Well, if I think you need anymore prefacing, I’ll tell you.
Oh, another thing: I’ll link to the three parts of each episode so you can watch it on that site, whatsitcalled, oh yeah, Youtube. I won’t, however, embed the videos. The link that I attribute to the title of the episode will be part one.
For the Artsy Type: Painted Windows (2, 3)
Crazy virus hacks into the system’s paint program and starts to wreak havoc. This episode references some famous works of art, including a take off on Andy Warhol’s pop art pieces. This episode is creepy crazy, but it will satisfy all those who was even remotely interested in their art history book.
Just for fun: Talent Night (2, 3)
Talent Night features some very snarky pop culture references, including a poke at William Shatner’s attempt to “sing” Elton John’s “Rocket Man.” And the computer jokes seem to run even more rampant in this particular episode, what with a joke told primarily in ones and zeros.
For the Hopeless Romantic: Life’s a Glitch (2, 3)
Actually, I think ReBoot itself is for hopeless romantics. Or people who like watching couples get jacked around for a whole series. Anyway, Life’s a Glitch follows Glitch Bob (the blue guy with the silver suit) and his quest to try to separate from his keytool Glitch (hence the name of the show and the Bob). He’s only doing so to get back with Dot (the green girl) who is now seemingly in love with the “normal” Bob who seems to be a copy of Glitch Bob. (This episode also includes a Phantom Menace parody.
For the Power Rangers/Godzilla/Tracey Island/Transformers Fan: Nullzilla (2, 3)
Nulls are wiggly snail-like creatures that are actually the nullified forms of sprites who lost games. Yes, whenever you play a game and win, you have just nullified a whole sector of the citizens that live in your computer. How can you live with yourself? Okay, moving along. Basically, this episode brings together the general absurdity of ReBoot parodies, great homage to some old shows, and an interesting storyline.
For those who like their spoilers (and musicals): End Prog (2, 3)
This is the last episode in ReBoot’s third season. It features a system crash, probably the worst thing that could happen to anyone living in a computer. I mean, it’s comparable to the world suddenly disintegrating around you… Actually, I only picked this one because of the musical tacked onto the end of it. The musical has a catchy tune (which is no surprise, it is based on a tune from an actual, real-live musical whose name escapes me at the moment) and a good break down of Season 3.
I hope you enjoy at least one of these hand-picked episodes. I mean, it covers everything: pop culture references, geeky references, good storylines… Just sit back, relax, watch, and enjoy.
Full disclosure: I got the images from Starman Imaging. Also, this particular post is in response to engtech’s group writing project.

Oh Bob…oh Dot…and power rangers. Yay!
Yup, Bob, Dot, and Power Rangers.
Also, please remind me to always lose at computer games. I just couldn’t live with myself if I destroyed those sprites!
Yeah, I’ll make sure you don’t nullify them.
Oh my gosh! I wasn’t sure what the show was, but after the first four seconds I instantly remembered the awesome show I used to watch when we were younger.
Such a great show!
PS: Would it be weird to say that Enzo grew up very nicely?
Sade — No, that wouldn’t be weird.
